MapShare ID

Where do I find my MapShare ID?

Go to explore.garmin.com and sign in to your Garmin account.
Open your inReach device, then click MapShare and make sure it is enabled.
On the MapShare page, you will see a public link like https://share.garmin.com/6RX3P.
The ID is the short code after the last “/”. Paste it here (no spaces).

Confirm it's your MapShare

Send one message from your inReach to MapShare. It proves the device is yours before we link it to your account.

On your inReach (or in the Garmin Messenger app paired with it), start a new message.
As the recipient, choose MapShare from your contacts. It isn’t a person: it’s your public MapShare page, which is where we look for the code. In the app, you can also type “MapShare” in the To field.
Type this code as the message:

Include your location, then send it. Without a location, Garmin doesn’t publish the message on MapShare and we can’t see the code. In Garmin Messenger, tap the arrow icon to the left of the text field before sending; on the inReach itself, make sure the message shares your location.

The code is valid for 30 minutes and isn’t case-sensitive. Nothing after a few minutes? Check that the location was included and send the code again. Don’t send it to a personal contact or by email: only a message sent to MapShare appears on your public page. It counts like any other inReach message on your Garmin plan.
